Accessories for Standard RHEED Systems

In addition, STAIB Instruments offers a variety of useful accessories which can be ordered with the RHEED gun.

Available in different sizes, the screens are designed to reach high spatial resolution and best contrast. A protective aluminum coating ensures good electric contact, blocks stray light from inside the vacuum chamber, and improves the contrast of RHEED diagrams.

  • The shutter protects the RHEED screen against evaporated substances. The shutter assembly consists of a double sided flange with mechanical feedthrough and shutter. Wide field of view.

A RHEED system from STAIB Instruments can be equipped with magnetic shielding. The shielding may be necessary because a magnetic field influences the electron beam. A static or DC magnetic field will shift the beam and an alternating field will wobble the beam. This can cause fluctuations in beam position, size and current.

The magnetic shielding is made of a highly ferromagnetic material. For this reason, it can be used to shield low frequency magnetic fields from the surrounding environment.

Magnetic shielding is available for the electron gun itself and for the electron beam path.

Spare filament delivered in a sealed container for customer installation. Directions for filament exchange are provided.

  • Lead glass: 1 mm lead equivalent at 110 kV
  • Thickness of the glass disk is 5 mm.
  • Not bakeable, to be removed for bakeout.
  • Easy mounting and fastening with thumb screws.
